Todd's 91 Turbo MR2
Todd McClendon was the first of the group to
discover MR2’s. He has driven an MR2 for nearly 8 years. His current MR2 is
his second (his first was a black 86). It’s a 1991 black t-top car with power
windows, power locks, and AC. That’s right, it has no ABS and no power
steering. Exterior modifications are a set of 16” Team Loco wheels with Kumho
tires, '93 brakes, '94 taillights and a 93 front spoiler. The interior is stock with the exception of the
old school Spearco boost gauge, J&S knock indicator with built in air/fuel
ratio gauge, and a JDM short shifter. The suspension is a combination of
Suspension Techniques springs with Gab and Tokico Struts. Don’t let the
horribly neglected exterior fool you. Todd’s car has a JDM CT20B turbo, Greddy
intercooler, Manjit fan shroud, Spal fan, Greddy Power Extreme dual muffler
exhaust, a built motor with JE forged pistons and 550cc injectors in an ATS
modified fuel rail. ATS rebuilt the transmission and installed a Quaife limited
slip differential and a Clutchmaster’s clutch as well. In the trunk ATS
installed an Autronic SMC stand alone ECU and a J&S Ultra Safeguard. The
Autronic controls the fuel and timing and a Profec B Spec 2 controls the boost.
Todd’s car spins the dyno at 290 rwhp at 23 psi with the CT20b and 313 rwhp
with the CT-27 at 21psi.
